La Bricole — Sea shanty aperitif and concert at Les Faiseurs de Bateaux

On Sunday, June 21st at 18pm, Les Faiseurs de Bateaux invite you to an aperitif-concert of sea shanties on their quays, at 43 route de Clairmarais in Saint-Omer.
For this open-air evening, we welcome La Bricole, a duo of musicians and singers who take the public into the popular, rugged and vibrant world of ports, quays, fishermen, dockers, sailors and privateers.
The concert is free, no reservation required, with bar and food available on site.
La Bricole sings of the strong personalities of the port of Boulogne-sur-Mer. The songbooks left by the humble and rugged seafaring people overflow with life. Songs of shrimp fishermen, herring fishermen, and dockworkers mingle with those of the adventures of convicts, sailors, and privateers returned from the other side of the world.
Rich with this picturesque treasure, the two musician-singers invented a port music where the Boulogne dialect resonates with sounds heard in the Antilles or the Maghreb during national service, at the English neighbor, complicit in all smuggling, or in the Black Sea, in the Indian Ocean where one went to look for jute, minerals…
Come and hear them bellow their loves and their angers to the disarming lightness of a kind of Creole musette music cooked up with the melodeon and the mandolin.
