On the second Friday of the month, traditional music comes to Les Faiseurs de Bateaux!
Every second Friday of the month (with some exceptions) from April to September, a gentle mix of strings, winds and conviviality enlivens the waterfront at The Boat Builders, in Saint-Omer. From 18 p.m., amateur or experienced musicians, the curious, music lovers and lovers of traditions meet for a free traditional music session, without fuss or pretension.
The principle is simple : no stage, no fixed program, no reservations… and above all, This is not a concert! It is an open, warm, spontaneous moment, where everyone is free to play, rehearse, improvise, listen, or simply have a drink while enjoying the musical atmosphere on the edge of the Audomarois marsh.
Accordions, flutes, violins, bagpipes, guitars, harps, violas… All traditional instruments are welcome, and all musicians, whatever their level, can sit down, share a tune, propose a melody, or accompany another player. The idea? To bring musical heritage to life together, in a unique setting, conducive to encounters and creation.
Ce open-air musical "jam" is also a time for exchange: we discover old repertoires, tunes from elsewhere, new arrangements... A great way to bring traditions to life in a modern and collective spirit.
And to top it all off, the atmosphere is decidedly relaxed: we laugh, we toast, we listen, we play, sometimes all at once! Whether you come with your instrument under your arm or simply with the desire to have a good time, you are welcome.
