On the second Friday of the month, traditional music comes to Les Faiseurs de Bateaux!
Every second Friday of the month (with some exceptions) from April to September, a delightful blend of strings, wind instruments, and conviviality fills the waterfront at Les Faiseurs de Bateaux in Saint-Omer. From 18 pm onwards, amateur and experienced musicians, curious newcomers, music lovers, and those who cherish traditions gather for an informal session of traditional music , without any fuss or pretension.
The principle is simple : no stage, no fixed program, no reservation… and above all, it's not a concert! It's an open, warm, spontaneous moment, where everyone is free to play, rehearse, improvise, listen, or simply have a drink while enjoying the musical atmosphere on the edge of the Audomarois marsh.
Accordions, flutes, violins, bagpipes, guitars, harps, violas… All traditional instruments are welcome, and all musicians, whatever their level, can sit down, share a tune, propose a melody, or accompany another player. The idea? To bring musical heritage to life together, in a unique setting, conducive to encounters and creation.
This open-air musical "jam session" is also a time for exchange: you can discover old repertoires, tunes from elsewhere, new arrangements... A beautiful way to make traditions resonate in a modern and collective spirit.
And to top it all off, the atmosphere is decidedly relaxed: we laugh, we drink, we listen, we play , sometimes all at once! Whether you come with your instrument under your arm or simply with the desire to have a good time, you are welcome.
