On January 31, 2017, a strange machine landed on the banks of the Boat Makers' workshop: a mobile sawmill!

Little throwback. In 2016, the Makers of Boats launched crowdfunding on the Cowfunding platform to finance the first stage of a major project: the reconstruction of a Cogue, a large boat used on the Aa in the 15th century for trade. A boat 2,5 meters long by XNUMX meters wide requiring beautiful and long oak planks.

This financing ended with a great success, 5000 euros having been collected to pay for the raw material. Thus, at the end of November 2016, five beautiful oaks were selected in the Clairmarais forest.

Two months later, the Champ du Loup mobile sawmill set up its machine in the Audomarois marsh. High-tech, high-precision equipment that made it possible in one day's work to transform the 10m3 of wood into thin planks 6 to 8 meters long. This mobile sawmill is an original solution, both economical and ecological, avoiding the need for a semi-trailer to transport the wood.

The next step for the Makers of Boats: the organization of an exhibition around the Cogue and trade in the Middle Ages, which will be open to the public from April 2017.
