A ship and a Viking funeral cart on our docks?

This summer, from July 22 to August 24, the Vikings land in the Audomarois marshes to try to invade Saint-Omer… After an absence of more than 12 centuries!

Why a Viking ship on our quays? It all started with the meeting of the Vestfold clan, a Laon association of Viking re-enactment enthusiasts. These allowed us to succeed in our somewhat crazy project: welcoming an exceptional boat and organizing an unprecedented exhibition on a forgotten part of the history of Saint-Omer and the north of France, at the time of the Norman incursions.

Discover around the Olav Kyrre, "Dreki" more than 11 m long, what were the consequences and the context of these invasions, the life of the Vikings and their rites... But also the raids and battles that once shook Thérouanne , Saint-Omer and the territory of Morinie. This exhibition adjoins a mini exhibition around the medieval cog under construction, focusing on trade in Saint-Omer in the Middle Ages.

Exhibition rate: €4/adult – €2/child. Visit of the workshop + guided tour in the marsh by boat + exhibition: €12,5/adult, €9/child. Free for children under 4 years old.

Meet the Vestfold Clan

The Vestfold clan members have currently set sail for Denmark, Norway and Poland. It is in this country that they will face other Vikings at the Wolin festival. In the program ? A huge battle between 800 fighters equipped with swords, axes and shields!

We will follow the adventure of our Scandinavian friends until their return, because these barbarians will pitch their tent at the foot of our workshop on August 12 and 13, 2017 on the occasion of the Aa Boot Feest!

The Aa Boot Fest is a new event around the boats that have contributed to the development of our territory. A new adventure that we hope to perpetuate!

On the occasion of the Aa Boot Feest, you will be able to meet the Scandinavians of the clan, attend scenes of Viking daily life, reconstructions of epic fights... Two days rich in emotions embellished with visits to the marsh, exhibitions...

Entrance fee Aa Boot Feest: €4/adult, 2e/child.

The CJS to help us!

Do you know the Youth Service Cooperative? This is a brand new device imported from Canada allowing motivated young people to set up a cooperative for a summer and earn a little money by performing various services… Like a real business! This is how the JEM COP' was born in the Audomarois!

To organize our exhibition and to animate it, we called on them. Find Clémentine, Eva, Amanda, Johann, Andy and Josselin on site. A great team now knowledgeable about the arrival of the Vikings in Saint-Omer!

See you soon !
