Adventure along the water in Saint-Omer

In order not to leave you alone facing the labyrinth of land and water that is the Saint-Omer marsh, you will have a plan and will have the choice between 3 circuits allowing you to understand differently the marsh of Saint-Omer.

The Noordbroek circuit: the two suburbs of Saint-Omer by boat

This circuit invites you to discover, on a free visit, part of the suburb of Lyzel, so typical with its small traditional houses at the edge of the water. You will also benefit from an exceptional panorama of the city of Saint-Omer seen from the marshes, on the river called "the little Meer".

Then take the direction of the bell tower of the Haut-Pont church and go up the suburb to Doulac, taking the peaceful Stackelwaert and Potelwaert rivers. Once in this district, which acts as a gateway between the city and the marshes, you will take wider and sometimes busier rivers, but revealing all the sumptuousness, even the magic of these places: the Grand Leecke and the Grande Meer.

A great tour of 2 hours by electric boat and three hours by rowing allowing you to appreciate the monuments of Saint-Omer, Lyzel, the Haut-Pont, the Doulac, the cauliflower lands... In summary, the ultra complete tour !

The Lyzel circuit: market gardening suburbs full of charm

This route invites you to discover, on a free visit aboard a wooden boat, the traditional district of Lyzel, so typical with its market gardeners' houses and its small bridges... A setting rightly earning it the nickname of Little Venice of the North!
You will also discover the cultivated marsh, as well as the low marsh, organized in traps in order to manage the water level, thanks to ancestral methods inherited from the Dutch.

Lyzel and the Upper Bridge

This route offers you a trip of one and a half hours in an electric boat or two hours in a rowing boat. A light version of the Noordbroek circuit allowing you to discover the different facets of the marsh: the low marsh organized into a compartment, used to manage floods, the cultivated marsh, but also the wild marsh near the ponds... The circuit begins and ends in the inhabited marsh, the suburb of Lyzel, famous for its traditional houses and typical little bridges.
